The Tuckerton Fire Department is always looking for new members to help us carry out our mission of protecting and serving the people of Tuckerton and surrounding communities. We provide a range of services to our community.
Must be 18 years old to apply. Once your membership is accepted you will need to attend the fire academy to be a firefighter. The Firefighter 1 class is 6 months long, recruits attend class 2 nights a week and a couple Saturdays a month.
Junior Fireman's Auxiliary
Must be 16 years old to apply. Provides training for eventual membership in the fire department. He/She will be trained to perform support duties. Activities of junior firemen shall be limited to (1) attending meetings of the Junior Firemen's Auxiliary; (2) receiving instruction; (3) participating in training that does not involve fire, smoke, toxic or noxious gas, or hazardous materials or substances; and (4) observing firefighting activities, while under supervision.
Emergency Medical Services
TFD provides medical first response to the residents of Tuckerton Borough for major medical emergencies. If firefighting is something you are not interested in, consider joining as a member of our medical first responder unit and use your talents to help those in need during their most vulnerable times.
Anyone who lives in Tuckerton knows that community events, especially in the summer months are popular and heavily attended. TFD Fire Police assist not only the fire department but also the local police with traffic control and safety during the events.
You would be surprised by the work that needs to be done behind the scenes to keep the fire company up and running. From paperwork to house duties; the work behind the scenes at the firehouse is just as important as our firefighting duties. Our associate members assist the fire company in these duties and allow us to run smoothly.

1.Do I have to live in Tuckerton Borough to join?
NO, we do encourage you to join the closest fire company to your home; however those in our surrounding area are welcome to apply.
2. Do I have to have any special classes to join?
NO, no special classes are needed to apply. Once your membership is accepted as a firefighter, within the first year you will need to attend the fire academy. The Firefighter 1 class is 6 months long, recruits attend class 2 nights a week and a couple Saturdays a month. Training will also be provided to members wishing to apply for Emergency Medical Services and Fire Police.
3. How old do I have to be to apply.
18 (16 for junior membership)
4. What do I need to do to apply?
Stop at the firehouse. Tuesdays night are always the best night to stop by as it is our drill nights. We will assist you in filling out our application. You will also need a physical examination from your physician, sign a waiver allowing for background checks along with drug testing, etc...., and get fingerprinted.
